International Tap Dance master, Pascal Hulin, will be in Delhi for the second time on the invitation of Delhi Dance Academy. After the grand success of his Tap Dance workshops last year, Mr. Hulin will be taking more workshops in Delhi in the last week of January.

Tap dance is a very popular dance form the world over. Mr Pascal Hulin is an international celebrity when it comes to Tap Dance and has students in more than 40 countries, where he has conducted classes and workshops. He is French and is based out of Germany.

Mr. Hulin will be in Delhi from 25^th to 30^th of January 2012 and will be conducting Tap Dance workshops in collaboration with Delhi Dance Academy.

In June last year, a large number of dance enthusiasts participated in Mr. Hulin’s Tap Dance workshop in Delhi. This time around, Mr. Hulin will be in Delhi for 5 days and he will be conducting workshops in batches. For each batch, there would be 2 sessions of one hour each.

Delhi Dance Academy has 2 studios in the Amar Colony centre and 1 dance studio in Valley View Estate in Gurgaon. You can hire our studios on an hourly basis when there are no classes on. The Amar Colony studio is roughly 300 square feet in size, has a changing room and toilet facilities.

The studios are right next to Amar Colony main market, which means lunch/dinner/snacks can be arranged easily and of varied tastes. The one in Gurgaon is in an estate.

The Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar South Delhi studio has undergone complete refurbishment in January 2012 with ergonomic wooden flooring, modern lighting, curtains and wall paint.

Hip Hop – An Introduction

The term “Hip Hop” is a combination of two words, “Hip” which means current or in the know and “Hop” as in the jumping movement.

They say that Hip Hop as a musical genre and as an artistic dance form originated somewhere in the Bronx in New York during the 1970′s. Hip Hop originally was a creative expression of the suburban African-American and Hispanic-American communities but gradually spread across communities, regions and countries and is now popular among dance enthusiasts around the world.

Hip Hop music began when DJs started experimenting with rhythmic beats in loops, then with rap vocals, hard hitting lyrics and beatboxing. All this accompanied with deep bass, innovative guitar strumming and high end sound effects.

While this new kind of music was gaining acceptance and popularity, particular complimentary styles of dressing, dance and art were also making way into the lives of fans. This is how Hip Hop as a dance form and Graffiti as an art form came into being. Today, music, dance and graffiti, all are essentials part of the Hip Hop culture.

Hip Hop in Delhi

India has a big pool of young population. With the establishment of good infrastructure and latest technology, at least in the major cities, easy access to global television and internet is now commonplace. This has brought information and knowledge about diverse cultures, global trends, world music and dance etc. within the reach of millions and millions of Indians over the past 2 decades.

Contemporary Dance is an artistic dance form which is quite popular with today’s youth. Delhi Dance Academy offers Contemporary Dance classes every evening Monday through Friday.

Delhi Dance Academy conducts regular Bollywood Dance classes. Students can join the classes to learn Bollywood Dance as a popular dance form, to be able to perform on different Bollywood songs or just as a general fitness routine.
